The body part of the victim, placed in a plastic bag, was taken from the bus, while his ears, nose, and tongue were found in Li's pockets. He was shot with a Taser twice, handcuffed and placed behind a police car. On July 31, 2008, at 1:30 am, the suspect tried to escape from the bus by breaking into the window. The RCMP officer was reported to hear Li say, "I have to stay on the bus forever." Meanwhile, stranded passengers were transported from the scene to be interviewed in the Brandon RCMP detachment. The police officer then watched as Li ate the body parts. The suspect alternately swung the bus length and defiled the corpse. The bus driver stopped at the curb so that he and all other passengers could get out of the vehicle.
